How To Clean And Reuse False Eyelashes

Quality false lashes may be an investment, but we have some good news. Most false lashes, especially those that may be a bit pricey, can be reused multiple times. Depending on the manufacturer's recommendations, quality falsies can be worn anywhere from 10 to 30 times. If that's not getting more for your money, then I don't know what is.

One major thing that people tend to forget about false lashes is that makeup and glue builds up on the lash band. To get the most uses out of lashes (and the most for your money), you have to clean them thoroughly and regularly. Otherwise, your lashes will give in well before their time. Don't worry—if you're looking to keep your lashes looking flawless, we've gathered some tips to make cleansing your falsies a breeze.

Gently peel off excess glue from the lash band.

If you often reuse your false lashes, you'll notice that glue builds up on the lash band after a while. The first step to refreshing your falsies is removing this glue to reveal the natural lash band. Be very gentle—make sure you don't end up ruining your false lash in the process. To best preserve your lashes, you should remove the glue from the band after every use instead of letting it build up.

Use micellar water, alcohol, or non-oil based makeup cleaner to remove product build-up from the lash.

To do this, pour a bit of the solution of your choice into the container and place your lashes inside of the solution. You should let the lashes sit for about 5 minutes to allow the solution to break down any residual glue or makeup on the lashes.

Pro-Tip: If you plan on cleaning multiple pairs of lashes at once, make sure you can distinguish between the different pairs to avoid mixing up the lash sets.

Place the lashes on a paper towel and begin tweezing any additional glue from them.

Sitting the lashes in the makeup remover should get rid of a majority of the residual makeup, but if not, it should be loose enough to come off with your tweezers or gently with your fingers.

Gently brush out lashes in the original direction.

If your lashes lose it's an original form when cleaning, don't get bent out of shape. Using an eyebrow brush, brush your false lashes upwards. After brushing, please place them in the original tray to allow the band to mold into its original shape.
